Ex-Gzb councillor shot dead outside his Maharajpur home

Ghaziabad: A former town councilor from Maharajpur area of Ghaziabad was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Thursday afternoon. The victim was killed while he was standing outside his house by bike borne assailants.

The deceased has been identified as Haji Haroon who was a former municipal councilor from Maharajpur area. The victim was also a leader from Bahujan Samaj party.

According to police, the victim was standing outside his house when few bike borne assailants started shooting at him and a total of four bullets was lodged his body.

The condition of the victim was serious after the incident and he was immediately rushed to the hospital.

"As the incident was reported to us, a police team was sent to the spot. The victim was rushed to Yashoda Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries while getting treatment at the hospital. The victim died due to multiple gunshot wound sustained in his body. A case has been registered following the complaint from the family members and our investigations are on to nab the criminals," said a senior police official.

Following the incident, the locals and supporters turned violent and came out on the roads. Huge police force was deployed in the area to ensure a situation of law and order in the area. Police somehow managed to bring the situation under control.

Stone pelting was also witnessed at the police in the incident by the supporters.
