Even smallest factors matter during rescue operations: NDRF

New Delhi: For National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), small factors matter during the Golden Hours in any rescue operation. In 2018, the disaster rescue force conducted as many as 37 operations in Delhi-NCR. According to NDRF, before reaching the spot, rescue plan is prepared which includes factors like timing, any cricket match or TV programme broadcasted or wind direction at the time of the incident.

"During any house collapse, the rescue team keep even the smallest things into consideration like whether any cricket match broadcasting on the day of the incident as it raises possibilities that the family might be trapped in the drawing room where they might be watching the game," said Krishan Kumar, Assistant Commandant and PRO NDRF.

He further stated that if the building collapses in the night, the team search the bedroom part of the structure.

During any chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN) wind factors are also being considered."

After rescuing victims from the chemical leak incident, they are being moved in opposite wind direction through safe route. Victims can come in contact with the chemical again if they are being taken from the direction of the wind," said NDRF officer.
