Ensure adequate security in schools: Commissioner

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Sunday asked all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to ensure that schools in their areas have adequate security measures in place.
DCP Madhur Verma said that the Commissioner has directed district DCPs to contact and pursue the issue with the school authorities in their respective areas so as to enhance the security of children in schools.
Verma, who is also the PRO of Delhi Police, said that the DCPs will ensure that the schools "get the security and safety audit done in their premises and follow security-related advice for the safety of children."
CCTV cameras will have to be installed at all vulnerable points in the school premises, he said.
According to official, the schools must conduct police verification for all their staff, especially bus drivers, conductors, peon and other support staff. The schools should also employ supporting staff from authorised agencies and keep proper records.
