Engineer, one other held for stealing bikes to take their girlfriends on joyride
NEW DELHI: Delhi police has arrested a gang of two who used to steal bikes to take their girlfriends to joyrides in Dwarka district.
Accused Aakash is born and brought up in Delhi. He did his engineering from Polytechnic College for Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering.
In the meantime, he started taking drugs and liquor. Though he completed the course in 2017 his bad company did not let him search for the job. He was always searching for drugs and liquor but he did not have sufficient money.
He started committing petty crimes to fund his drug addiction. He was arrested first time in 2017 in the case of auto-theft.
He roped in co-accused Deepak who was engaged in CCTV camera installation in the same area and both started stealing vehicles together.
"On every weekend they took their girlfriends for joy rides on new stolen bikes. If the bike developed any snag, it was left unattended at secluded place.
During day they used to roam in societies and on streets on pretext of repairing internet lines and would shortlist the scooter and motorcycles, and steal them later.
If somebody spotted them, they used to start handling the wires going nearby and would pretend to repair or maintain the wires.
They used to sell the stolen vehicles at throwaway prices. They also used to sell and change the parts of the vehicles so that vehicles are not easily identified on roads.
