Encroachments in Mehrauli area removed

New Delhi: Several nurseries and temporary shanties were today removed from Mehrauli area here in a demolition drive undertaken by the south Delhi district administration.
A team comprising officials and staff of revenue department, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi Police and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) demolished encroachments in and around Mehrauli Archaeological Park, said an official.
Several nurseries along the road from Chatarpur to Ladda Sarai Chowk, temporary 'jhuggies' at Lado Sarai Chowk and structures near Qutub Minar Metro Station were removed during the drive, he said.
Notices regarding the drive were served to the parties concerned on March 23, the official added.
The demolition drive is being conducted in the city on the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.
