Elderly woman shot outside house in Dwarka, accused still on run

New Delhi: A 55-year-old, lady has been shot in Uttam Nagar area of Dwarka on January 1 while she was sitting outside her house in front of burning logs of wood at around 8 pm.

The woman was immediately rushed to the hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The police said that the accused has been identified and teams have been formed to arrest him.

Sources said that the accused had personal enmity with the woman over some issue. When the accused found an opportunity to strike, he came to the woman on the night of January 1 and pumped a bullet into her while she was sitting with others warming herself in front of the burning of wooden logs.

The whole incident has been captured in the CCTV. The accused, identified as Zafar—a local resident, is seen coming towards the lady and her companions outside her house. He slowly walks and took out his pistol and aimed at the woman. Before anyone could react, he had already shot the woman. As the woman collapses, he was seen running away from the gathering.

In a similar incident, a 35-year-old woman was shot at while resisting a snatching attempt by two armed bike-borne assailants. The incident took place in Outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area on December 24.

According to the police, the victim was warming herself next to a bonfire outside her residence when two men approached her and threatened to remove her jewellery and hand it over to them. The woman identified as Geeta refuted their claims following which they fired at her and fled the location.
