Elderly woman dies after wall of dilapidated house collapses

Greater Noida: A 75-year-old woman died while a few others sustained injuries after the wall of her house collapsed in Rabupura area of Greater Noida on Sunday morning.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Farzana. Cops said that the deceased had no son and was staying at her house with four daughters.

The incident occurred around 7 am in Rabupura area. The elderly woman was doing household work near the wall when it collapsed and she was trapped under the debris.

Neighbors took her help out of the debris but by the time she was taken to hospital, doctors declared her dead.

A local persons said that the was collapsed due to a pool of water formed near the wall because to rainfall on Thursday night. "The house was already in bad condition and the woman had applied under Pradhan mantri Awas Yohan scheme to get it repaired as she failed to repair it by her own due to poverty. An inspection of her house was also done by officials last month but the money was not received," said a local person.

Meanwhile police have not received any complaint into the matter. "As of now we have not received any complaint into the matter. The family of deceased woman also didn't inform police about the incident but we came to know through some local persons," a senior police officer of Rabupura police station said.
