DUTA delegation meets Sisodia over freezing of college funds

NEW DELHI: A delegation of Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) met Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, demanding the release of grants as an interim relief to 28 colleges funded by the Delhi government.
After Delhi University failed to appoint governing bodies to 28 colleges affiliated to it, the Delhi government ordered a freeze on funding of all these colleges in July this year.
All these colleges are either fully or partially funded by the government.
According to a statement by DUTA, the 28 colleges were finding it difficult to release salaries to teaching and non-teaching staff due to the fund crunch.
The meeting between Sisodia with DUTA president Rajib Ray and other office bearers was sought on an urgent basis.
After the meeting, Ray told reporters that the meeting was congenial.
