Durga Puja: More police deployment in 30 spots

New Delhi: This festive season, not only Delhi Police will remain alert to avoid any untoward incident but they will also be checking their police personnel alertness during the festival time.
In north west, Delhi Police have spotted more than 30 vulnerable spots which will be heavily guarded during the festival season.
Talking to Millennium Post, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Milind Dumbere said that they are taking several security measures during Ramlila and Durga Puja celebration and have also formed a team who will conduct surprise inspections to know the alertness of the police personnel who were deployed at the Durga Puja pandals and Ramlila.
Police sources claimed that the team will take several steps to see the alertness of their staff and if some negligent will be found, action will be taken against them.
According to police data accessed by this newspaper, north-west district has received 51 applications of Ramlila and Dushhera and around 10 Durga Puja applications with Ravan Dahan applications.
According to police sources, some of the areas in Netaji Subhash Place, Jahangirpuri, Haiderpur, Kalander colony, Model Town where security have been increased. "Surprise police checking is been done security guards who will at the pandals are been given training," said a police official. With major pandals, police were also ensuring safety and security in small pandals. The security of different areas will be seen by a senior policeman who has been made in charge of their areas and the DCP will continuously monitor safety and security arrangement.
According to police, they will also keep a tight vigil on eve-teasers as police personnel, including the woman constable will be deployed in plain clothes near pandals and Ramlila. "The private security guards who are deployed at the Ramlila are given training by Delhi Police about how to check and frisk," said a police official.
