Duo learnt how to rob cars from online videos

New Delhi: Delhi Police nabbed two drug addict burglars who were involved in over 20 thefts and had reportedly learnt techniques of burglary through videos on the internet.
Police said the accused were identified as Sagar and Sanjay Mannu, who were involved in 22 cases of motor vehicle theft, and burglary of homes and shops, and were arrested on January 12, on the basis of a tip that they would come to a petrol pump in Vijay Vihar to dispose off the stolen items.
"A study of the modus operandi of the criminals paid off and it came to light that the accused would hardly stop for even a minute at one place and were always on the move to avoid any raids by law enforcement officials," said a police official.
After interrogation of the accused, cops recovered three mobile phones, some cash, two LCD TVs and six cars.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar stated that Sagar was first arrested in 2007 for a case at Prashant Vihar police station. Thereafter, he was arrested twice, but this did not deter him.
Not only did Sagar resort to theft to fuel his drug habit, but also for the excitement he got from robbery.
"Sanjay Mannu was arrested in 2017. In Tihar jail, an undertrial prisoner taught him the techniques of unlocking and stealing cars, which he later learnt in details from online videos," said Kumar.
