DU student dies in road accident, two injured

New Delhi: A 19-year-old Delhi University student died and two others including Delhi Police constable were injured in a road accident in North Delhi's Burari area on Friday. Police claimed that they have formed teams to arrest the accused in the case.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Kapil Ratnu (19), a native of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and was the first-year student of Ramjas College. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Harendra Singh stated that the incident came to light after they received a PCR call at 10:40 am at Maurice Nagar police station. A police team rushed to the spot and the victims were rushed to the hospital where Kapil was declared brought dead.
Singh claimed that when police team reached the spot they found an Alto car bearing Delhi number in the accidental condition at Maurice Nagar. Nearby the spot, Delhi Police personnel were also there on the motorcycle who was injured in the accident. "The car first hit Constable Mukesh of Jaguar and then hit a pedestrian Kapil. Then the car also hit another pedestrian girl identified as Jagriti, a student of the third year, Political Science from Ramjas College," said the senior police official.
Kapil Ratnu was declared dead in hospital whereas Jagriti is in Trauma Centre and receiving treatment. Mukesh is also in the hospital. Police claimed that both are out of danger. Police further claimed that during the investigation they came to know that registered owner of the car is one RC Vyas, a resident of Kalyan Bagh in Kalyan Puri area.
"Teams have been formed to identify and nab the driver as he fled from the spot after abandoning the car,"
said Singh.
