DSP booked for accumulating disproportionate assets
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have booked a senior police officer of Deputy Superintendent of Police rank who has been posted as DSP of PAC in Ghaziabad on accumulating undeclared wealth and unaccountable assets. Police officials said that the senior cop has been booked after a report was sent to DGP-UP police and he ordered to lodge an FIR into the case.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar, a resident New Vijay Nagar area in Ghaziabad. Cops added that Kumar is currently posted as Assistant commander of 47th battalion of PAC of Ghaziabad.
"Upon receiving the directions from Director General of Police (DGP), an FIR under charges of corruption was lodged against Kumar. The DGP acted upon the investigation report sent to the office in Lucknow and upon finding the discrepancies, a case was lodged," said a senior police officer of Ghaziabad
police.
The officer further said that an enquiry was set up for Kumar's income between January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2012 which revealed an expenditure of Rs 47.49 lakhs. However, the examination of wealth under him and his wife's name revealed value of Rs 1. 43 crore, which is almost 201% more than his wealth.
The report also said that Kumar owned illegal property in various cities of NCR region while he had accumulated disproportionate assets during his service.
"Acting on the directions from Police headquarters, an FIR under the section of 13.1A (Criminal misconduct by a public servant) and 13.2 (Any public servant who commits criminal misconduct shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall be not less than one year but which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to fine) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered against Kumar," added
officer.
Meanwhile Kumar denied all the charged imposed on him citing time to be fake and it has been a conspiracy against
him.
