Drunken brawl leads to teen's death in Ggn

Gurugram: Sustaining severe injuries after being beaten by sticks, stones and canes during new year's eve, a 19-year-old boy— identified as Sonu Sharma— died on Wednesday. As of now, there have been no arrests made in the case. Co-incidentally, Sharma was being tried for a rape case and was presently out on the bail.

According to the police, the incident took place on December 31st at around 11.30 pm, when Sharma, a resident of Shivpuri, and his friend, Deepanshu, were standing near a private medical centre in Madanpuri, Sector 7. His friend who has also sustained heavy injuries is presently being treated at the Government hospital.

However, his condition is said to be out of danger. "Sharma and his friend were allegedly attacked by five to six men and beaten with baseball bats, sticks and canes," said a Gurugram police official.

The accused men were drunk and started assaulting the victim and his friend. After the incident, both were rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Sharma had suffered internal bleeding and was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi whilst his friend suffered a leg injury and a police complaint was lodged on Tuesday," he added.

An official also quoted the complainant from the FIR saying that ''After the violent assault, the drunk men threatened to kill us if we reported the incident.'' Incidents of road rage have now been on the rise for sometime around in Gurugram turning into a commonplace phenomenon. In the past, there have been several incidents of violence owing to uncontrolled aggression experienced across the city. Limited parking spaces have also contributed extensively to the violent incidents. In various outcomes, it has resulted in the death of the person.
