Drug peddlers held with 548 kg of marijuana

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an interstate racket indulging in peddling marijuana from Bhubeneswar to Delhi, after 548 kilograms of the substance was recovered in a parcel van of Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express at New Delhi railway station on Saturday.

Two persons were arrested for carrying the marijuana, valued at above Rs54 lakh. Raids are being conducted to arrest remaining members of the racket.
The STF, Crime Branch, had received information that Jagdish and Sarvan, residents of Faridabad, would be found in the Rajdhani train on Saturday.
The police received a tip-off on September 5 that Jagdish would come to take delivery of the consignment at New Delhi railway station and then travel to Faridabad, said an officer.
The contraband was kept in a parcel van of Rajdhani Train and transported to New Delhi.
Jagdish was nabbed near Rajghat traffic signal with eight cartons of marijuana, the officer added.
