Drug networks booming in Gurugram

Gurugram: Drugs networks in Gurugram is becoming more larger as more gangsters are now entering into the illegal business.

According to law enforcement officials the greater challenges that how the cartel is successful in bringing drugs from various states into the city and distribute it well through well-coordinated networks.

According to law enforcement officials from the states of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi and Bihar, psychotropic substances like poppy, sulpha and heroin come into the city.

Sharing borders with Rajasthan also has its perils as most of the drug peddlers are bringing in substances like Methadone and smack from the state.

Haryana Chief Minister has proposed the formation of a special team under Haryana Control of Organised Crime Act to tackle rising crimes related to drugs.

The team will especially focus on the metros like Gurugram that is becoming the hub of the drug trade.

"I am happy to announce that Haryana Control of Organised Crime Act shall soon be enacted to effectively control and curb the menace of organized crime, gangsterism and drugs smuggling in Haryana," said the Chief Minister

Being the richest district of the state the drug mafia along with illegal liquor trade is now posing a major law and order challenge to law enforcement officials.

Not only are the officials from Gurugram police but now even the special task force (STF) has become involved in curbing the drug mafia in the city.

According to sources most of the big criminal gangs that are operating in the city are now shifting their focus from illegal land deals, extortion to transportation and supply of drugs

In the there have also been reports of synthetic drugs being supplies to prisoners in Bhondsi jail.

On March 6, last year in two separate the Gurugram police seized 366 kilograms of Ganja in Pataudi and Sector-5. Last year the Gurugram police were successful in capturing 480 kilograms of Ganja that was being transported in the truck along with the construction materials.

"We have increased in patrolling around the areas where we feel drugs can be transported. Our officials are also on the ground keeping a vigil on the supply of drugs taking place," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.
