Dreaded gangster involved in 8 murder cases held in Gurugram

Gurugram: The police on Monday night arrested a dreaded gangster who is involved in eight murder cases in and around Gurugram and had prize money of Rs two lakh. The criminal has been identified as Chand. He is also accused in the murder of ex-Army man Sumer Singh who was shot dead in Manesar on December 5, 2018. Chand was arrested along with his colleague Vikas. The two were arrested from the KMP Expressway.

Two pistol and 12 live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle have been recovered from the gangster. According to the police officials, besides murder, he was also involved in burglaries, kidnapping and making extortion threats. "The arrest of Chand is of great importance. He has wanted in at least eight murder cases in and around Gururgam. He is also the main accused in the murder of ex-Army man Sumer Singh," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.

Gurugram has been one of the most preferred spots for the gangs to operate. Owing to high real estate prices, the city was earlier used for land grabs and extortion. Now the paradigm of these gangs have shifted towards drugs trade, carjackings and bumping of the members from the rival gangs.

Once dependent on encounter specialists, the Gurugram Police now wants to play safe in using their services in dealing with the deadly gangs operating in Gurugram.
