Dreaded gangster campaigns for Independent candidate in Gurugram

Gurugram: As the election campaigning gathers steam, candidates in Gurugram from mainstream parties to independents are leaving no stone unturned to impress their voters. In this hectic process of campaigning, now a controversy has emerged after Binder Gujjar, a dreaded gangster was seen campaigning for the independent candidate Mohit Grover.

In a video that is now making rounds in the social media, Gujjar is also seen addressing the crowd citing that it is not important for the citizens to become gangster-like him to bring in the change but rather select the right candidate.

Gujjar who is also dabbled in the political activities in the past was recently acquitted by the Gurugram district court for the murder of Raj Kumar Sethi. Gujjar (42) was accused of hiring the killers who in turn shot dead Rajat Seth, the businessman in 2015. Gujjar was let -off as the witnesses in the incident had turned hostile. Gujjar in the past has also faced charges of murder and extortion. Downplaying the entire incident, Mohit Grover stated that he was not aware of the presence of Gujjar because of the massive crowd that was present in the rally.

Police sources in the Crime Branch maintain that there has been a reduction in the dangers posed by the deadly gangs of Gurugram since most of their leaders have either been eliminated or arrested. However, the sources also conceded that the danger from the gangs and their members has still not fully been removed. "Our officials are well trained to deal with criminals who attack us and proper procedures are adopted. Even as challenges remain the Police have reduced the influence which these gangs used to possess at one point of time," said a senior police official from Gurugram Crime Branch.
