DMRC, Google tie-up to provide info to commuters

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday announced a tie-up with Google Maps to provide digital details and information about services provided by Delhi Metro.
The collaboration will give people authentic timetables and associated geographic details at all Metro stations.
Through the Google Maps app, the trip timings will be displayed for each service operated at a frequency of four minutes during peak hours, and eight minutes during non-peak hours.
The trip timings, which correspond to services provided on weekdays and on Sundays, can help commuters plan their journeys to reach their destinations faster.
"We diligently explored all possible ways of making the journey of commuters seamless and convenient, and the tie-up with Google Maps adds another step to digitise Delhi Metro," a DMRC official explained.
On the Google Maps app, users can tap the Metro Services option, which opens a departure board displaying schedules of the next few Metro services from that station in both directions.
According to the press statement, "As Delhi Metro is the preferred public transportation for millions of commuters every day, the integration of the Metro network with Google Maps would benefit new commuters and help existing commuters in discovering new routes and options. And, in the next stage of this collaboration, the Delhi Metro is further planning to integrate facilities available at the station such as parking, rest rooms etc.
