DJB launches Data Acquisition Centre for flow meters

Through setup, DJP to have real-time data of 3k strategic distribution nodes

NEW DELHI: Delhi Jal Board on Saturday launched Data Acquisition Centre for Flow Meters. DJB is in process of supplying, installing and commissioning 2700+ flow meters along with its 5 years operation and maintenance.

"With 10 WTPs, 120 primary reservoirs, 192 toppings, and more than 600 secondary reservoirs, Delhi Jal Board has a huge water network within Delhi. For complete water audit of such a huge network, flow meters are required. The project aims to carry out a complete water audit starting from the outlet of WTPs up to the consumer's end. DJB has started the work of installation of flow meters at Inlet & Outlets of primary and secondary reservoirs and various tapings across Delhi," said an official.

The project of installation of flow meters is divided into two stages i.e. Primary Water Audit and Secondary Water Audit. In the first stage, water supply is carried out by installing flow meters at the outlet of all WTPs, tappings and inlet of all primary reservoirs. The work undertaken under the 1st stage has already been completed where around 360 plus flow meters have been installed.

In the second stage, the flow meters will be installed at the outlet of all primary reservoirs, tappings, inlet and outlet of secondary reservoirs. Under the 2nd stage, 2700+ flow meters will be installed along with its 5 years Operation and Maintenance. This is one of the biggest projects all across the world under this segment.

Real-time data of 3000+ strategic distribution nodes will be available with DJB through this setup. This will also give a measurement of water quantity & pressure at strategic points such as outlets of water treatment plants, Rising mains, Inlet/Outlets of primary and secondary reservoirs and pumping stations.

This system can generate automatically reports /graphs as per requirement. The system should help in an analysis of the data of water being supplied to the citizen of Delhi and other critical hydraulic parameters for strengthening the water network across Delhi.

It can also be utilized for remote monitoring by the concerned engineers on Web-enabled platforms. A daily report generation shall be available to the concerned for Analysis and Solving the problems faced in various areas.
