DJB holds public awareness seminar

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board on Friday organised a public awareness seminar on mechanized and eco-friendly ways of sewage -septage and solid waste management at Delhi Secretariat. The seminar aimed at inspiring, encouraging, sensitising and enabling the officers and officials across all platforms towards proper implementation of Delhi Septage Management Regulation 2018 notified by Government of Delhi.

"Proper implementation of the Regulation will greatly help in abatement of pollution of the river Yamuna along with majorly providing better standards of living to the settlers along the riverbank," said Chief Secretary Vijay Dev.

On the occasion, former Chief Secretary Shailja Chandra and B S Sajwan, as being members of Monitoring Committee for Yamunna, Chief Executive Officer of Delhi Jal Board Anil Kumar Singh were present in seminar. DJB is endeavouring consistently with its limited resources to extend its pipeline network for potable water supply and sewerage disposal to whole Delhi to effectively address issues in days to come.

Disposal of waste water into water bodies and dumping of septage everywhere and anywhere is polluting water sources like groundwater and surface water, leading to severe health implications as well as environmental challenges.
