DJ artist tries to foil robbery bid, gets stabbed to death

New Delhi: A 32-year-old man was surrounded by three armed criminals in the wee hours of Thursday and stabbed to death for resisting a robbery attempt in Sagarpur area of South West district. The deceased was identified as Monu Tyagi, a native of Muzaffarnagar. He had come to his uncle's house and was on the way to railway station when the incident took place. He was working as a DJ artist.

Police said a PCR call was received at 4.36 am about a man lying in a pool of blood in front of Arya Samaj Mandir in Sagarpur area. A police team rushed to the spot and the injured was taken to DDU hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Devender Arya, DCP (South West), said "Till now no eyewitness is found. An FIR has been registered at Sagarpur police station under IPC section 302 (murder). Police teams are formed to trace out the accused. One suspect has been detained for questioning."

The horrific incident has been captured in a CCTV camera installed in the lane. The video shows a man hiding behind a car and is waiting for the potential target. The victim is seen with a bag on the back when he is surrounded by two more men. The victim is then cornered by the three men as one of them tries to snatch Monu's bag. He resists the attempt and tries to fight back. This is when an accused armed with knife stabbed Monu multiple times in his chest and lower abdomen before he collapsed.

The CCTV footage of the incident has been obtained by the police team. Based on the CCTV which did capture the faces of the accused, police are trying to identify the accused and arrest them. The accused with similar height and physique are being interrogated. Local intelligence is being gathered and the police are scanning the list of robbers and snatchers active in the area. The cops are also scanning the recent snatching and robbery incidents to ascertain if the victims have seen the clear faces of the accused.
