Ditched in lesbian relationship, woman plotted acid attack

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police have arrested five persons including a woman for allegedly throwing acid on a woman Punjab National Bank employee in Sahibabad area on Tuesday morning. Three other persons including a woman also suffered minor burn injuries in the incident after the acid flew everywhere.
Police said that the woman arrested was the main culprit behind the incident and she plotted the crime in order to take a revenge over being upset after the victim ditched her in a lesbian relationship and got engaged with some other guy.
According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as Anju Gupta, Lokesh, Ravi, Salman and Lalu. Ravi and Lokesh sprayed acid on the woman while Salman and Lalu gave them acid, said police.
"Investigations revealed that Anju, with the help of Ravi and Lokesh, who were auto drivers, threw acid on the woman when she was going to her office in an auto rickshaw. It was also promised that upon successful completion of the crime Anju would give Rs 1 lakh to the two auto drivers from which Rs 30,000 were already given while the rest was supposed to be given in the evening but the arrests were made," said Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.
Police said that Anju wanted to take a revenge from the victim after she cheated on her with another man.
"Upon interrogating them it was revealed that Anju and the victim worked in same organisation in Noida's sector 63, few months back. Anju developed strong feelings for the victim and both of them got into a lesbian relationship with each other. As the time passed their love affair turned sour and the victim drifted away and found a boyfriend," added Krishna.
With the help of Ravi and Lokesh, Anju started keeping an eye on the movement of the girl and on Tuesday evening they attacked her, said police. Anju also told police that she had earlier registered a complaint at a police station in Noida against the victim woman after she failed to persuade her further.
