Dharmendra assumes charge as NDMC chairperson

New Delhi: Dharmendra, an IAS officer of the 1989 batch of AGMUT cadre, assumed charge as chairperson of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Sunday. Immediate after assuming the charge, the chairperson convened an introductory meeting with secretary, NDMC and all heads of the departments of NDMC at council room in Palika Kendra. Dharmendra has done his B.Tech (Civil Engineering) from IIT-Delhi.

Dharmendra succeeds Naresh Kumar who in July, 2019 was transferred to Arunachal Pardesh as Chief Secretary. In meantime Chief Secretary of Delhi, Vijay Kumar Dev was holding the additional charge as NDMC Chairperson. Dharmendra was currently serving as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in Government of India.

"Dharmendra has held several important assignments in past, serving both Central and Delhi Governments in various capacities. He has worked over 10 years in Urban Sector in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Government of India and DDA," said NDMC in a Press statement.

He has served in Delhi Government in capacity of Secretary (Environment and Forest) and also in the department of Industries, Urban Development, Irrigation and Flood Control.
