Dengue cases in Delhi reach 7,130 this year

New Delhi: Dengue cases in Delhi have reached 7,130 this year with 48 new cases reported last week, according to the latest report released by Municipal Corporations. However, the number of cases reported last year till the time was 9,232. Out of the total 7,130 cases, 3561 diagnosed belong to other states.

At least four deaths, including that of a minor boy, were reported due to the vector-borne disease till the third week of December. Three of the deceased were identified by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) as Aman Tiwari (13), Sanskriti (21) and Gagan (23). Gagan died on September 30 and the other two succumbed in October.

At least 583 cases have been reported from areas falling under three civic bodies –North Corporation (91), South Corporation (279) and East Corporation (213). The rest of the cases were reported from areas outside the jurisdiction of the municipal corporations of Delhi.
