Delhiites may soon get updates on traffic jams via 'Facebook Live'

New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police is all set to explore social media especially Facebook in a bid to reach out to a large slice of populace in the Capital and is also going to start 'Facebook Live' in near future to inform people in an interactive way about the traffic of Delhi, the congestion, route diversions as well as sensitising people about Traffic rules. "To further improve the skills of the Public Interface Unit (PIU) of Delhi Traffic Police, specialised training was organised by the experts from Facebook India too. The skills of 50 police personnel were further fine-tuned to handle the Facebook Page of the Delhi Traffic Police," said Taj Hasan, Special CP Traffic.

The Traffic Police is using Twitter for quick transmission of information regarding any breakdown of buses or route diversions due to possible congestion at various stretches in Delhi. Facebook due to its popularity is considered to be one of the best platforms to impart information. People post their grievances on the Facebook page of the Traffic police for corrective action. "The objective of the training was to improve the outreach of Delhi Traffic social media platforms. Delhi Traffic Police is likely to use live feature for the dissemination of information. Moreover, further training of PIU Team is envisaged to equip them for making imaginative and creative content," said Alok Kumar, Joint CP Traffic.
