Delhi witnesses over 8,000 programme last year: Police

New Delhi: Apart from investigating henious cases, the Delhi Police also remained busy in law and order arrangements last year. The police record claimed that as many as 8,594 programmes held in Delhi.

Police claimed that 1,568 demonstrations were reported in the city whereas 451 processions held in 2018. "As many as 608 meetings took place in different parts of the city.

There were around 406 rallies and marches in National Capital whereas 5,541 dharnas, strike and others programme took place in 2018," data added.

The Delhi Police modified the anti-riot vehicle 'Vajra Vahan' as a mobile police control room which is being used during law and order arrangements. "Vajra Vahan consists of high-resolution CCTV cameras to keep a tab on the situation," police said.

2017 was also busy year for Delhi Police, wherein more than 9,000 programmes, namely demonstrations, dharnas and protest marches, were held in the national Capital.
