Delhi Police seeks details regarding investigation in 9 heinous cases involving North-east victims

New Delhi: A unit of Delhi Police sought information from six districts regarding disposal of pending investigation cases in which victims are hailing from the North East region of the country.

Police sources said that as many as nine cases are reportedly pending with the districts.

Police sources told Millennium Post that in June, the letter was written from the office of Additional Commissioner of Police, special police unit (northeast region) to six districts (South, South East, South West, Dwarka, West and Outer Delhi).

Quoting letter content sources said that on perusal of reason of pending investigation cases (heinous cases) in which victim is hailing from North East region, it has been noticed that there are nine heinous cases pending investigation with the investigating officers.

The district wise list from the year 2014 to June 26, 2019 has been attached with this letter.

"In view of above the SHO concerned may be directed to a proper investigation of heinous cases and dispose of them on a priority basis. The specific reason for pending investigation cases may be also sent to this office within three days positively for the perusal of Joint CP/SPUNER, "the letter reads.

Sources further added that according to the letter the pending cases were registered in Kotla Mubarakpur, Malviya Nagar, Sunlight Colony, Govindpuri, Vasant Vihar, Naraina, Rani Bagh, Shakarpur and Madhu Vihar police

stations.

According to Delhi Police Annual Report 2018, they (police) gives topmost priority to the security of people from the North-East region living in Delhi.

Specially designated officer Joint CP/SPUWAC and SPUNER conducted regular meetings with the representatives of North Eastern residents to ensure their security and have a robust mechanism for this purpose.

"The cell monitored the calls received on helpline number 1093, instituted especially for this purpose.

The Facebook page "Delhi Police for North East Folks" maintained by Joint CP/SPUWAC and SPUNER remained very popular, " reads the Annual report.

The report further added that crime against North-Eastern States' residents has shown a decline of 17 percent in heinous cases with 19 cases being reported in 2018 as against 23 cases reported last

year.

The staffs of North-Eastern cell and beat staffs of concerned police stations are in regular contact with the representatives of

North-East State residents to ensure that their complaints are addressed

promptly.
