Delhi Police may soon grant e-licences to restaurants

New Delhi: Soon, taking licenses for restaurants might be hassle free as Delhi Police is planning to provide an online facility for granting

e-license.

Police sources told Millennium Post that apart from issuing licences to the newly-opened eateries, there can be a system to renew existing licences.

Sources further added that during a recently held meeting in Delhi Police headquarters, a discussion was held regarding the implementation of the e-licensing for eating

joints.

"In the online system, there is a possibility of a set of questions (procedures) which should be followed by the applicants and after proper verification, the license can be granted by the police," said sources.

In the online process, the applicants have to upload the required documents for availing various services.

They would also be able to check the status of their applications online. This would also reduce repetitive paper work in the licensing unit and give them more time for a better

output.

Currently, the applicant is required to apply online for the registration of restaurants on the prescribed application form.

The applicants can then upload the documents and after taking an appointment, the form can be submitted at the counter in licensing unit along with the concerned documents.

Recently, Delhi Police has launched "Online E-Arms Licensing System" which is intended to simplify the process of issuance of' licences in respect.

According to police, with a view to ensure 'ease of doing business', the "online module for receipt and processing of application" for the grant of licences and other related services will be the latest digital initiative by Delhi Police and this would improve the service delivery by simplifying the licensing process without diluting the legal

requirements.

"In today's scenario, adoption of technology is no longer a luxury but an absolute necessity, since a vast majority of people are computer literate and using the internet and smartphones in a big way. In this scenario, the Delhi Police strives to use all possible technological means for bringing about a qualitative improvement in its service- delivery," police said.
