Delhi Metro to plant 2,000 saplings at different stations

New Delhi: Taking an initiative and spreading awareness about the protection of environment and importance of cleanliness, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to plant approximately 2,000 saplings at different metro stations, depot and residential colonies across the network, within the month of August.
In another project to promote the cause of environment, "DMRC has also tied up with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to start the 'Adopt a tree' campaign. As part of this campaign, 6,000 saplings of native tree species will be distributed at 15 metro stations to individuals free of cost on every Thursday and Friday during the month of August," the press statement said.
According to the statement: "The sapling will be distributed between 4 and 7.30 pm and the stations are HUDA City Centre, MG Road, Chhattarpur, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Dilshad Garden, Noida Sector 18, Botanical Garden, Noida City Centre, Laxmi Nagar, Vaishali, Anand Vihar, Badarpur and Dwarka."
To mark the beginning of the project, DMRC launched "Swacch Chetna- DMRC Eco Club" with a plantation drive at the Jangpura Metro Station on Friday.
"DMRC's Managing Director Mangu Singh and other senior officials planted saplings and inaugurated the drive. Meanwhile, children from DMRC's Children's Home at Tis Hazari also participated in the event," it added.
