Delhi Metro, school students organise 'Swachh Chetna' in Ggn

Taking an initiative to spread awareness about protection of environment and importance of cleanliness, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in association with Shri Ram School launched the 'Swacch Chetna: An Eco Club' on Wednesday in Gurugram.
Students, along with DMRC personnel, planted saplings to spread greenery in the vicinity of Qutab Minar Metro station.
The students also created a Facebook page to spread awareness among their fellow mates and other children.
A wall will also be allocated to the students for wall art, where they will create painting on the theme of environment preservation. A logo designing competition will also be organised among the children to decide the logo of the club.
In the next few months, the eco club will organise many activities, such as cleanliness drives at Metro stations, street play competitions for children, among others.
Recently, the DMRC constructed a park by using construction waste in Shastri Park area, called 'Prakriti Metro Park'. Moreover, Arjangarh Metro station has been given an artistic makeover, with Indian and international artists painting illustrations across the walls of the station on themes related to environment.
Delhi Metro is also organising a series of puppet shows across schools in the city to educate children about etiquettes of travelling by Metro. More than 200 such shows covering about 50,000 children have been organised so far. DMRC also plans to take the initiative to more schools and involve more students in spreading awareness about environment and cleanliness.
