Delhi Mahila Cong launches voters' connect campaign

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress president Sharmistha Mukherjee on Thursday launched a 'Voters' Connect Campaign' (Matdaata Sampark Abhiyan). This programme will be undertaken in the slum clusters and unauthorised colonies of Delhi.

Mukherjee said that under this programme, the members of DPMC will make door-to-door visits in these areas to ensure that every eligible resident of the locality is registered in the voters' list. She said that the Mahila Congress members will also verify whether the voter ID of the resident is registered and on the electoral roll through on-the-spot verification through mobile. She said that in case a resident doesn't have a voter ID, or there's some problem with the existing ID that is not registered, the resident will be briefed in detail how to get it done. These residents will also be urged to go out and vote. While launching this program at a meeting of DPMC, Sharmistha Mukherjee said that the elections are most integral and important process of democracy through which people choose their representatives.
