Delhi govt set to launch 'schools of excellence'

NEW DELHI: Delhi government has completed setting up of five "schools of excellence". The admission to these schools will begin soon. These schools will be fully English medium and impart quality education. The education department will recruit very experienced teachers.
All these schools would be fully English medium and the students would be helped gain mastery over the language. The aim of building up these schools is to provide quality education.
According to sources, the admission to these schools would happen in two different stages. In the first stage, the admission of class Nursery till 8th standard would be done on the basis of a lucky "draw".
But the government has become strict regarding the admission to higher classes.
The admission to Classes IX-XII would be done on the basis of an entrance examination.
In these schools, the state government has taken the decision to make the teaching process more innovative and interactive. Teachers with overseas exposure would get priority. In these schools, the department of education would also arrange training sessions for the parents where they would learn the importance of education.
The interaction between the teachers and parents would be accorded such priority that these schools would have regular counsellors who will meet the parents every week and discuss the psychology of the students. In these training sessions, the teachers would also discuss problems encountered in classrooms.
In these schools, the extracurricular activities would also get due importance.
All these activities would be taught by trained teachers. The schools will give such training to all the students and it would be mandatory.
To impart leadership quality skills among students, the Delhi government is going to launch a leadership programme by building Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya in each zonal area (Schools of excellence).
Moreover, considering Finnish education, which is known to be one of the best education systems in the world, the Delhi government took this remarkable decision. In an earlier event, the Delhi government sent principals and teachers to Harvard and Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) to learn the nuances of quality teaching. All these global training programs were devised to achieve this.
