Delhi govt must apologise for lying on water subsidy: Maken

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Wednesday slammed the Delhi government, saying that after hiking the water tariff by 20 per cent, it was making false propaganda to mislead people and sought an apology from the Arvind Kejriwal Government.
DPCC chief Ajay Maken said that for the second time in three years, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has raised the tariff, but the Delhi government was still claiming that free water was being distributed.
"(People with free water) account for just eight per cent of the total houses. The Kejriwal government should apologise to the people of Delhi for lying on water subsidy," Maken said.
Maken added he has written to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri regarding the ongoing sealing and demolition drive in the Capital, requesting him to consider reducing the conversion charges from residential to commercial to 10 per cent from 100 per cent as businesses have suffered.
