Delhi Govt launches trial run of electric buses

NEW DELHI: On the view of bringing electric buses in Delhi, the Delhi government has launched a trial run of some electric buses to check how the plan works. With the success of this effort, the government will plan the future of 100 per cent electric buses in Delhi. Recently the Supreme Court appointed EPCA said that if pollution rises then all the private vehicles run in diesel and petrol should be stopped.

"The Delhi government is trying through various ways to bring a green Delhi. This year in the budget also we have focused on the same. The public transport system and the vehicular pollution management would be our priorities," said an official of the government.

"We are all speaking about pollution and how it is an increasingly serious health concern in the metropolis. Studies have shown that 36 percent of the pollution has its source within the city; which includes 3 percent pollution from buses. In such a situation, it becomes imperative to shift our mass public transport system from fossil fuel to non-fossil fuels on an immediate basis," said Nishant Arya, Executive Director of JBM Group, the company which is making these buses.
