Delhi govt ignoring NGT, SC directions on pollution: Gupta

NEW DELHI: Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Sunday accused Delhi government of not following the directions of NGT and the Supreme Court to curb pollution.
Gupta said that there are other reasons also contributing pollution which the Delhi govt is deliberately ignoring.
Describing the statement regarding non allotment of land for DTC bus depot far from truth, Gupta has accused the Delhi government of not using the land already allotted by DDA.
"DDA allotted land but Delhi Govt is silent on the issue. DDA had also sent norms to the government, suggesting the construction of modern Multi-Purpose, Multi Level Parking in existing DTC depots which will also reduce dead mileage of DTC but no action has been taken in the matter," he said.
Gupta further added, "Delhi should have 11,000 buses in its Transport System but only 5,500 buses are available. Even if Delhi government's imaginary plan to buy 2,000 new buses in one year takes shape, still there will be shortage of about 4,000 buses in the public transport system. This also exposes their imaginary plan to control pollution next year."
