Man rapes minor in front of his teenage daughter

A 36-year-old man from Kamla Nagar was held on Saturday for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in front of his teenage daughter.

Police said that the incident came to fore when the girl's father called the cops and informed them sayinghis daughter was raped by one of their neighbours in Kamla Nagar Market area.

The police immediately reached the spot and a case was registered after they took the statements of the victim and her parents.

According to police, the accused, identified as Amit, a widower with two daughters, lives in a rented accommodation.

On Friday, he took his daughter to a nearby park, where he spotted the victim playing with her friends.

He later took his daughter to the victim's group and later lured the victim on the pretext of offering chocolates, to the railway colony gym located near the park.

"He took the girl as the location was abandoned. He then raped the victim in front of his daughter, and threatened her with dire consequences if she would raise an alarm," said a senior police official.

The victim later returned to her house but her parents grew suspicious when they found her crying.

When the mother of the child inquired into the issue, the girl narrated the entire incident after which the police registered a case against the accused.

Police said that the man refused to accept his crime at first, but during sustained interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to his crime.

The victim, cops said, along with the accused man's daughter, have been sent for counseling sessions to make sure that they are able to get out of the traumatic episode.
