Gangster who carried reward of Rs 1,50, 000 arrested by cops

The AATS of South East district has arrested an interstate gangster Ajay Dabas alias Ajay Barwala (35), carrying a cash reward of Rs. 1,50,000 on his arrest and wanted in a sensational murder case of cable operator Devender Rathi in the area of Begumpur, Delhi in the year 2016 and another case of attempt to murder in the area of Vijay Vihar last year.

Owing to financial problem and also to fulfill his lust for easy money, he came in the contact with bad elements of the area and along with them started committing robberies.

In 1997, while he was studying in class 10th, he started robbing people. Accordingly, three cases of robberies were registered against him and he was arrested in scooter robbery case of Sultanpuri and subsequently was sent to jail.

In the prison, he met criminal Devender alias Kukki, Ajayvir who were associates of slain gangster Anil Bhagte gang and soon he became a part of the gang.

Anil alias Bhagte was a gangster wanted by the Delhi and Haryana Police in the several cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.

Bhagte was involved in the sensational kidnapping case of Model Town in which he demanded a ransom of Rs. 2 crores.

His area of influence was Azadpur Sabzi Mandi where he used to extort the dealers of the Mandi. He was among the top ten criminals of Delhi at that time.

"In 2015, he came out on parole to attend his brother's wedding and jumped the parole. Accordingly, a case for jumping parole was registered against him inShahbad Dairy," said DCP South East Romil Baniya.
