Noida police launch cars with ANPR, CCTV for enhanced security

As part of its efforts to make the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida, 'safe and secure', the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police on Friday launched two vehicles mounted with Automatic Number Plate Reader (ANPR) and CCTV cameras.
The police have also decided to mount CCTV cameras at all the major roundabouts and traffic light across the twin cities from which, CCTV cameras at sector 57 intersection were mounted on Friday.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police Love Kumar, who flagged off two interceptors mounted with ANPR and CCTV cameras at SSP office in Greater Noida told reporters that the ANPR system can detect traffic violations like red-light jump and over speeding vehicles with auto challans to be generated in the traffic police control room.
"The ANPR system will photograph number plates of cars and alert the police control room about the wanted, suspicious and stolen vehicles. The cameras would be connected to the control room where the database and the details of the owner of the particular vehicle will be stored against the registration number. In a case of any traffic violation, the auto challans will be generated and posted on the address of the owner," said Love Kumar, SSP, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
