Woman's tweets on Hauz Khas kidnapping bid go viral, cops seek formal complaint

In a series of tweets, a woman created a sensation on the social media site narrating an appalling tale on how a girl was attempted to be kidnapped by a group of boys in South Delhi's posh locality Hauz Khas.
On July 6, the woman who wished to be anonymous mentions that at around 1 a.m. while she was walking "from Hauz Khas Village to Aurobindo", she suddenly noticed a car full of boys taking a U-turn just after spotting a girl.
The girl, she describes, was wearing shorts and was with a male friend who appeared to be drunk.
The car apparently started following them and soon two boys came out and surrounded the girl.
The woman also states that when she confronted the boys they told her: "isko drop kar denge kahi, zyada bolegi to tereko bhi le jayenge" (We will drop her somewhere and if you resist we shall drop you too) she tweeted.
Then, as the woman narrates, it was only after she tried to record a video and called one of her friends that the boys got scared.
Within hours, her tweets were got re-tweeted, and she got the attention of many on social media who asked for more details on the same.
The Delhi Police was tagged by several users on the thread and though they initially seemed to tweet an automated response, the woman later clarified that she has provided the police with all the details.
"I spoke with the Additional DCP South Delhi, and the SHO Safdarjung.
I explained the incident and have provided all the details I had, like timing, location, partial number plate, I declined a formal complaint," she wrote.
However, the cops made it clear that either some complainant or eyewitness has to report the matter to police to initiate action.
