2 gang members held for stealing 150 vehicles

Two members out of six from Satish theft gang, involved in stealing of over 150 vehicles from the National Capital Region, have been arrested by Gurugram Police.
The gang was active in Gurugram and was targeting people in Sohna Road, one of the upscale areas of the city. The accused have been identified as Hitesh and Sonu.
The two men alone had admitted of stealing four Hyundai Creta cars and two Bolero cars. Besides this, they had also stolen motorbikes.
Police soon after a tip-off held the two accused at Subash Chowk in Sohna Road.
On an average, at least 10 vehicles get stolen daily from the city. In 2016, there were 3,800 vehicles stolen while 3,000 cases of vehicle theft were reported in 2015.
"Most of the burglars that have been caught by our team belong from Mewat. However, there have also been gangs from Rajasthan and Delhi. Unlike earlier where vehicle thefts used to be carried out by two or three skilled robbers now there are a group of five to ten robbers who commit the crime," said a senior official from Gurugram Police.
