The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have arrested 15 people including two women dancers and 13 Block Development Committee (BDC) members on Thursday afternoon from a private residence in Chi-4 sector of Greater Noida.
The arrested were allegedly disturbing the neighbours as they were all taking part in a mujra with loud music.
"Acting on a complaint received from the neighbours on number 100 for loud music, the police raided the place. There was an obscene show going on with loud music. Following which, the police team arrested men and women involved in the act," said Amit Kishor Shrivastava, circle officer, Greater Noida.
"A case under section 294 of Indian Penal Code for display of obscene acts and shows has been registered against them at Kasna police station. We are investigating the case to find further leads," added Shrivastava.
According to the police, the block level elections are nearing and will be conducted on July 16 in Sahibganj block of Chandoli district, from where all accused hails. They had organised the mujra show ahead of the polls.
"Though we are yet to ascertain the identity of the owner of the house there is no involvement found of any political party or of these men affiliated to any such political party yet," confirmed Shrivastava.
