26-year-old man dies of drug overdose, locals hold protest

A 26-year- old man died due to a drug overdose on Thursday at Tigra village near Sector-57.
Angry over the incident, the villagers protested over the inaction of the public authorities to rein in the element that sells drugs openly in the area.
The protest held by the local did not allow the body to be taken for the post mortem but later relented after they were pacified by the senior police officials who visited the spot.
"There is open selling of drugs in our area and there is no action that has been taken by the police even after this issue has complained to them on numerous occasions.
"Today there is one victim tomorrow there will be others and this dangerous trend will continue if the authorities do not take action
against these dangerous elements," said Ramesh, a local resident.
Selling of drugs for long has been a major law and order challenge in the city. Last month more than 400 kilograms of Marijuana was seized by Gurugram police.
Earlier in 2015 in two separate incidents over 200 kilograms and
300 kilograms of Ganja held in Gurugram.
