In two separate incidents, one reportedly drowns, another found hanging from a tree

A 19-year-old boy is feared dead after he reportedly drowned in an open drain in Najafgarh area on Sunday evening.
The boy was spotted by his cousin who also took a plunge inside the drain. However, the police along with various agencies managed to rescue his cousin, but the boy is feared dead.
In a separate case in the same area, a man was found hanging from a tree near an open drain located near Niranjan Park in Najafgarh on Monday.
His family members have still not been identified and efforts are on to trace his family.
The first case came to light when the police had received a PCR call around 8:10 pm.
"The call stated that a boy had drowned in an open drain near Peerbaba Dargah . Upon reaching the spot, we found that the boy identified as Sonu had fallen inside the drain after which his cousin also tried to rescue him.
"But even his cousin started to drown after which the neighbours saved him," said a senior police official.
Despite the fact that the cousin was saved, we were unable to trace the boy and several agencies like the Delhi Fire Services and disaster management teams have been roped in, the official added.
The second case came to light when the body of a man was found hanging from a tree in Najafgarh. No external injuries were found on the body and his parents are yet to be identified.
"We have identified the body of the boy. His name is Munna, and is residing in the vicinity. His post mortem is currently being conducted," the official added.
