The wait for rainfall in the National Capital and NCR is over as the southwest monsoons has finally hit the two places on Sunday.
Heavy showers continued across the NCR.
"The southwest monsoon advanced in the last 24 hours and finally struck the capital, also covering the entire National Capital Region, parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand", said meT officials.
As expected, the rains also led to waterlogging especially in low-lying areas and underpasses. On Friday, Delhi and NCR were severely hit by showers and numerous incidents of traffic jams were reported owing to waterlogging. Delhi's other weather stations also received strong showers in the last 24 hours with Palam, Lodhi Road, and Ridge recording 37.9mm, 21.1mm, 13.2mm of rainfall respectively till 8:30 am on Sunday. The meT officials forecast cloudy skies for the day with the rains to continue in spells.
