Building collapses in Laxmi Nagar, one injured

One person was injured and four miraculously escaped with bruises as a four-storey commercial building collapsed in Laxmi Nagar in the small hours of Sunday.
"We received a telephone call about the incident around 1.50 a.m. Five people were injured in the incident," the official said.
However, according to the police, only 57-year-old Balkar Singh was injured in the accident. Balkar Singh's condition is said to be stable.
Soon after the call was made, several tenders reached the spot and started the rescue operation immediately with the help of the locals and the police team. The Cats ambulance were also rushed to the spot.
"The building's owner, his wife and two children were living on the first floor of the building but were not injured," said a police officer.
"We were going to sleep when the building collapsed and was rescued by the public that has gathered. We were not hurt thankfully," said residents of the first floor. He also added that there was a minor construction that was going on in few shops present inside the building.
The locals allege that the MCD had been informed about the bad phase of the building but they refused to pay any attention.
The police officer said that Singh was living behind the collapsed building. Also, a room of his house has been destroyed.
"The building was old and there was no particular reason for its collapse," said cops.
However, the locals stated that the rain might have triggered the collapse of the old building. Police said they have checked the debris and confirmed that no one else is trapped in the rubble.
