SDMC to ensure free toilets at petrol pumps

In an attempt to improve its ranking in the Swachhata Sarvekshan, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to facilitate free usage of public toilets at all petrol pumps under its jurisdiction.

SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said the civic body will make functional toilet at petrol pumps mandatory for issuance of the municipal license. "We will not hesitate in taking action against the defaulting petrol pump owners. The licensees will be bound to implement the instructions," Sehrawat said.
P K Goel, Commissioner, SDMC instructed the concerned officers to ensure the presence of functional toilets at petrol pumps. An SDMC official said that the move will help in increasing the number of public toilets from 904 to 1,054.
"There are already 551 public toilets and 353 community toilets. The owners of the petrol pumps would be directed to install an arrow-marked notice in 4x3 feet size at the entrance of the pumps to intimate people about the free facility," he said.
"The petrol pumps lacking this infrastructure are being asked to construct it within two weeks. SDMC will nominate a nodal officer for keeping a watch on the deadline," he added.mpost
