Mentally challenged 10-year-old girl raped, held

A 10-year-old mentally challenged girl was repeatedly raped for almost a week by the owner of the house where her family lived as tenants, police said.
The incident was reported in Outer Delhi's Miyanwali Nagar on Wednesday when the girl's brother caught the accused red handed and raised an alarm.
Family members of the victim told the police that their daughter, who is mentally unstable since birth had been unwell since the last one week.
Also, she became irritated when anyone would try to interact or make contact with her.
The incident came to fore when the girl's elder brother who was friends with the accused returned home and found his sister missing.
He went to the first floor of the house to look for her as he sensed something was amiss because when he called his friend, he too didn't take the call.
When he passed through his friend's room, he noticed him sexually assaulting his sister and raised an alarm.
He then immediately made a PCR call and informed the cops about the same.
"The boy was later arrested from his house after the girl broke down and told them about the incident," said a senior police official.
The girl later told her family members that the man had warned her of dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident.
