Ram Lal Anand College to start disaster mgmt course

The much awaited certificate course in disaster management is all set be launched in Delhi University.
For the first time, the varsity's Ram Lal Anand College will start the six-month certificate course in disaster management. The course will be started this academic session itself.
The unique certificate course is the brainchild college principal Rakesh Gupta. In addition to the students enrolled in the course, National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) volunteers will also be a part of the course.
"Students can pursue this course with any undergraduate or postgraduate course. Guest faculty from the National Institute of Disaster Management and National Disaster Management Authority will teach and train the volunteers in using fire equipment and other techniques to tackle emergency situations," said Gupta.
"Disaster can occur anytime, so we should be prepared enough to tackle it. After we have a trained task force, special disaster response unit will be formed in all colleges. List of emergency and helpline numbers will also be made for all colleges," Gupta added.
The course fee is a mere Rs 500 and admission will be given to applicants only on a first come, first serve basis.
