GNIDA to form team to inspect completion certificates of projects

Following the loopholes found in three towers of Unitech's Cascade project, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has now decided to form a dedicated team to inspect over a dozen projects which were issued completion certificates at the time of previous government in reign.

"We have received several complaints from various residential projects of lack of basic amenities like lift, water supply, sanitation and others. Now, we have decided to form a team, presided by the additional CEO of the Greater Noida authority" said Dr. Prabhat Kumar, Chairman, GNIDA.

"In the past year, the authority has issued completion certificates (CC) to over hundred towers of various residential projects across Greater Noida.

Proper inspections will be done and if loopholes are found in those towers for which CC has been issued, strict actions will be taken against the concerned officer" added Kumar.

Around one lakh homebuyers have been affected by unfinished projects.

Builders have claimed they are facing a fund crunch due to dip in sales, which has delayed possessions of projects to the homebuyers.
Those who somehow got possession of their homes are, however, lack access to basic facilities.

Amid these financial issues and a fear of paying huge penalties, builders are allowing people to take possession of the flats in the form of raw skeletons of cement and bricks.

The authority now seeks to take stringent actions against such builders by cancelling their completion certificates and granting reapplication only after getting the work completed.
