Dead lizard found in Safdarjung Hospital food

Hospital food, considered as the safest, is not anymore. A dead lizard was found in the food served at the Doctor's mess in Safdarjung Hospital.

On Saturday evening, as student queued up for dinner at the mess, a doctor, noticed a dead lizard in his gravy.

"Immediately, they brought this to the attention of the mess authorities but did not receive any response from contractor's side," echoed doctors.

The resident doctors then clicked an image of the lizard and shared it on social media. Later, the issue was later taken up by the doctors Union, whose member filed a written complaint with the DG health.

"This kind of negligence has not happened for the first time in this hostel mess, rotten, stale food and cold food is very common.

"Despite several complaints, there has been no action taken against the contractors and there is no effort to ensure the quality of food is improved," said a doctor.

Another, doctor said, "The doctors mess is vulnerable condition, instead of making repair concern officials have hide the dilapidated condition of mess through white wash.

Moreover, they have barred the outsiders' entry so that unhygienic condition of kitchen won't come out in notice of government official."

However, doctors alleged that officials are not doing any quality test of food served to medicos, despite several complaints. So, most of the doctors avoid eating food at the mess.
